Gerhard Damm of German origin and now residing in South Africa is an
ardent hunter and conservationist. He is the founder and editor of
AFRICAN INDABA,
which is Conservation Force's African newsletter. He authored the book The Conservation Game – Saving Africa’s Biodiversity” of which over
5000 copies were distributed to many schools around Africa; the book also
serves as curriculum material in the Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC).
Gerhard Damm was president of the SCI African Chapter from 1997 to 2005, and
served in 2003 and 2004 as co-opted Executive Committee Member (Education)
of the Professional Hunters Association of South Africa (PHASA). He is
tri-lingual (German, Spanish & English) and
has hunted worldwide. He is a life member of the Boone & Crockett
Club
and the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep (FNAWS), a member of the
International Council of Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) and numerous
other hunting and conservation associations. Gerhard Damm has been honored
by the German Hunters' Association (DJV) with their Golden 40 Years
Membership certificate in 2002 and the Professional Hunters Association of
South Africa with their
Wildlife Utilization 2006 award.
