Sheep Conservation

The Wild Sheep Foundation is a conservation partner of Conservation Force. The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) was founded in 1977 by visionary sheep hunters who rose to a critical need and call to action to repatriate wild sheep throughout western North America. They called it "putting sheep on the mountain," and so they did. Translocating more than 20,000 wild sheep in 1,400 actions throughout their western range helped increase bighorn sheep numbers from their 1960s-1970s lows of 25,000 to more than 80,000 big-horns on the mountains of Canada, Mexico and the USA today - a three-fold increase and one of the most significant conservation success stories of our time.
